Welcome
to FishWeb
What a great hobby keeping fish is. It can be
cheap to start up with a two foot tank, all the accessories you need and of
course the fish costing less than £100. And the best bit is that if you plan a
little you can not only have a colourful addition to your living room but also
make a little bit of money as well by breeding and selling them. The aim of this
page is to help people who are starting up their own tank to decide which fish
they would like to get. There are many hundreds of books on the subject but you
have to pay for them and my website is
.
I do not pretend to be an expert on fish keeping, my knowledge has been acquired by reading many books, talking to friends and family who keep fish and by keeping fish myself.
Using the links to the left you can either go to any of my information pages which will tell you about over 170 different types of tropical and coldwater fish and plants or go to my links page to find other web sites that have something fishy to offer. For those of you who prefer my old method of listing all the fish together in alphabetical order of their common names, this is still available on the Index page.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped me with the building of this website, especially my brothers-in-law David Field and Karl Lindsay for their advice and the excellent staff at Ark Pets and Aquatics in Gillingham, Kent not only for advice but also for allowing me to take pictures of their fish.
I would also like to thank those of you who have sent me pictures and info on new fish.
Finally, a big thank you to my wife Maria for putting up with my obsession with fish!
Unfortunately, due to a few morons trying to send viruses to the FishWeb email address, this service has been withdrawn. I will therefore no longer be able to answer questions or be able to accept pictures for this site. It is a shame that these anti-social idiots have spoilt a free service for the 10,000 people who visit my site each month.
